Hey Friends,

After a month full of modesty posts, I am excited to be sharing some of my favorite books about biblical womanhood and femininity!

Dressing modestly and being feminine go hand in hand. If we don’t understand what it means to be a feminine woman, than we will struggle to dress in a modest and feminine way.

For the next few months, some of my blog posts will be relating to the topic of femininity and a woman’s outward appearance (not just her clothing!). I hope to find a nice balance between posts on faith, femininity, and modest fashion throughout the coming months. I am really excited for these upcoming posts, so stay tuned! As always, be sure to share you thoughts in the comments. 🙂

Now, without further ado, let’s jump in. I am so excited to share these books with you!

8 Books About Biblical Womanhood and Femininity

The Bible

I had to include this book first and foremost.

Ladies, if we aren’t in the Word of God, reading, studying and learning what God has to say about biblical womanhood and femininity… then we are going to a have a very skewed view of true biblical womanhood.

The world is constantly bombarding us with it’s opinions and ideas concerning a woman’s role and well-being. If we aren’t constantly on our guard we will slowly begin to believe the devil’s lies.

God is the One who created women. He created you, and He created me. Because He is our Creator, don’t you think we should find out what He has to say about womanhood and femininity? Ultimately, His Word is our guide for the unique roles we play as a woman.

God’s Word tells us how to find true and lasting happiness, fulfillment, security, and purpose as a woman! We would be foolish not to search the Scriptures and find out what God has to say about biblical womanhood and femininity.

Be What You Are

This is a small book that discusses basic “Bible Principles for Gender, Roles, and Distinction”.

In this book, the author is speaking to both males and females, explaining how to embrace our God-given gender. He also explains how to live this out in our daily lives by acting on our God-given roles and displaying our God-given gender and identity.

This is great little book for anyone to read and have on their bookshelf – especially in this day and age of extreme gender confusion.

The Twenty-One Tenets of Biblical Femininity

This has been a favorite book of mine for a long time! This is another *smaller* book but it contains a boatload of wonderful wisdom on biblical femininity. Jerry Ross (the author of this book) is a dynamic preacher, and several of his books were a big help to me in my teenage years. I have read this book at least twice, and also taught through this book in a girl’s Sunday School class.

This book is incredibly practical, helpful, and encouraging. It will also help young women learn how to live out their

The Role of a Lifetime

If you like interactive Bible study books, you will love this one! This book contains three sections…

  • Act One: Woman in the Garden
  • Act Two: Woman in the Gospels
  • Act Three: Woman in the Church

I enjoyed going through this book (about two years ago). I especially appreciated the author explaining how Jesus was for women, not against them. Christianity is the one religion that has a proper view and appreciation of women. It’s in our proper roles as woman that we find true joy and fulfillment. God knew this when He created us, and it’s a truly beautiful thing!

Becoming God’s True Woman

This book is unique because it’s not written by one woman. Instead, this book is a compilation of chapters written by several different women. The topics in this book range from true beauty to knowing God as our Heavenly Father. This book also tackles the difficult topic of biblical submission. Mothers will also find a chapter on how to raise feminine daughters.

I love this book for it’s variety authors and topics, as well as the fact that everything still related to “Becoming God’s True Woman”.

Fearlessly Feminine

This book tackles many fears that modern day women have about biblical womanhood and femininity. This book is nearing 20 years old, so it’s probably due for an update. However, I still think many of the topics and concerns that are discussed in the book are very, very applicable for Christian women today. Some of the topics in this book include, the culture’s influence on Christian women and their view of femininity, submission as a wife, cherishing children, and learning how to be a feminine single woman.

I really enjoyed this book and I know you will too!

The Disciplines of a Godly Woman

This is an incredibly helpful book that lays out the key disciplines that we need to become godly women. I remember reading and learning so much from this book. From daily devotions to memorizing Scripture, to marriage and motherhood, this book covers it all!

I also remember the helpful illustrations and personal stories that the author shares in this book. Hearing those stories and examples are always helpful to me! This is a favorite book on my shelf… and I would definitely recommend it!

A Woman’s High Calling

This list would not be complete without including a book from Elizabeth George! I chose to include this one, because the focus of the book is about becoming a wise and godly woman (not just being a feminine one!). In this book, Elizabeth George lays out “10 Ways to Live out God’s Plan for Your Life”.

This is one of my favorites, although I think all of her books are gems!

  1. Hi! This is a great list! I really enjoyed “The Set Apart Woman”by Leslie Ludy. It was one of the best books on the subject, super encouraging!

    Blessings,
    Sharon

    1. Hi Sharon,
Thanks for sharing – I haven’t had the chance to read that one. I will definitely keep my eyes out for that book when I go shopping!

  2. I’ve read Love Defined: Embracing God’s Vision for Lasting Love and Satisfying Relationships by Kristen Clark and Bethany Baird and loved it! It’s jam packed with biblical advice and examples, It really helped me! Next I want to read their other book, Girl Defined: God’s Radical Design for a Beauty, Femininity, and Identity while I haven’t read it, it sounds like you with the would love it!

    1. Yes! I have heard great things about BOTH of their books, but I haven’t had a chance to read either one! I should add one of them the next time I make an Amazon purchase.
Thanks so much for sharing! ♥

  3. I love Pastor Ross’ books! I got to meet him and his wife at the Sword of the Lord conference last year! Another good book is Raising Maidens of Virtue by…Stacy McDonald, I think is her name. It’s a mother daughter study, but even in my 20’s reading it on my own, I gleaned so much!

Thank you for this list! I will be looking into thwe in the near future!

    1. Yes!! I actually have that book but I haven’t had a chance to read it yet. I picked it up at a thrift store sometime earlier this year. ☺️

  4. I am so excited about posts of femininity and womanhood, I will check weekly the blog to see the newest posts.
I read Elizabeth George’s books (they are very inspiring), and the Bible, of course, but the rest of the books aren’t translated in my country.
I read about Proverbs 31 woman books by Mike Murdock and Katina Miller.
I also recommend Authentic Beauty by Leslie Ludy (she shares some good ideas), One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp (it is a beautifull call to living fully).
I would read Lysa TerKeurst’s books, Linda Dillow’s, and Elisabeth Elliot’s “Let me be a woman”.
    Have a blessed day! 😊

    1. Yes… Such good books! I could have mentioned Let Me Be a Woman, but I don’t believe I have a copy so I forgot to mention it. I also mentioned it recently in another post. I am glad you are excited about the femininity posts… I am looking forward to sharing them with all of you!!

  5. Thank you for sharing your recommendations! Girl Defined and Love Defined have both been immensely helpful and encouraging to me. And this book isn’t necessarily centered specifically on biblical womanhood/femininity (although it has much to do with it!), but Passion and Purity by Elizabeth Elliot is great, too. I haven’t read her Let Me Be a Woman but I hear that one is fantastic as well!

    1. I really need to read Love Defined and Girl Defined…. And Passion and Purity! Thanks for sharing, Grace. I always love your comments!

  6. As I scrolling the Amazon’s web, for finding Femininity themed books, I found these amazing little treasures:
    1. 50 things every young lady should know – Kay West
    2. As a lady would say – Sheryl Shade
    3. How to be a lady – Candace Simpson Giles.
And many others! I thought it would be great to share it with you and tell me what do you think about them. Hugs! 😊

    1. Thanks so much for sharing! Those books look good. It sounds like they are a lot about manners and etiquette. I literally just bought How to Be a Lady today at a book sale! It’s good so far, but it is not from a Christian perspective and has some content related to drinking, parties, divorce, etc. But other than that it’s a neat book!

  7. I know this is a little late, but there was an older book that has a purple cover about being a sacred wife/about femininity that was so good. I can’t find it and can’t remember the name! I was hoping someone in the comments might remember it. It talked about dress and different things in marriage and I really enjoyed it, but I can’t remember for the life of me and would love to give this to my maturing daughters along with all of your suggestions! If anyone can think of it, (sorry, I can’t give you more to go on!) please let me know!

  8. Thanks for this list of the best Christian books for women! I’m looking for a gift for my Wife and she really loves her reading! Right now she already has the complete collection from Keion Henderson, https://www.keionhenderson.com/books/ her favorite so I need to find other selections! Thanks for this!
