A New Baby, New Routines, and a New School Year!

Read my E-Book, Radiant Modesty, to learn how to embrace God's ideal for the clothing we wear!

Hello Friends!

Long time, no post. It’s about time I catch you all up on what’s happening in our lives over here! If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know some of these things already, but consider this the chatty version. 😉

My “one word” for 2026 was the word “new.” That’s certainly been true for this year as we have been experiencing a lot of new and exciting changes.

First things first…

A New Baby

We welcomed our third son (Elijah Valor) into our family back in May. He looks just like his big brothers and is the sweetest little addition to our crazy bunch of boys. The Lord was gracious and gave me a smooth and “easy” delivery. Those first few weeks postpartum were also very sweet. My recovery has been a little more difficult this time around (that’s a story for another day) but I’m slowly healing and we are all adjusting to being a family of five!

New Routines (and Habits Too)

Those first several weeks with a new baby, we were in survival mode… and just winging it from one day to the next. Now that Elijah is a couple months old, I’ve been craving the predictability of routines and the stability of good habits.

Here are the habits and routines I’ve been building back into my life:

Time in the Word and Prayer – This is a habit I always need to rebuild after having a baby. Mornings work best for this, but it’s a struggle to fit in before my boys are awake (especially when I’m sleep deprived with a baby). But my days go better when I spend time with the Lord first! If this doesn’t get done in the mornings, I try to fit this in during afternoon quiet times!

Walking + Pelvic Floor Exercises – In this season of healing, walking is my go-to exercise right now.. Although truthfully, it doesn’t happen as often as I would like! I’m also trying to fit in weekly pelvic floor exercises to help my body heal from pregnancy and birth.

Meal Planning and Cooking – We were living off freezer meals for a little while, but I’ve enjoyed getting back into meal planning and cooking fresh meals from scratch.

A Consistent Routine for Baby – Those first couple months I was absolutely winging it with baby’s feeds and naps. Right around the 2 month mark I started working on a more predictable routine. I’m happy to say that this is going very well. We don’t have a rigid schedule, but I have a pretty good idea of when baby will eat and sleep – which really helps with this next routine…

Daily Homeschool Lessons – We started back to school at the beginning of August! My oldest is doing school and the younger two are just along for the ride. We’ve already had to pivot and change some things around with our curriculum choices but overall,  things are going so much better than I expected! I am so excited for another year of learning with my 6 year old!

When I first started working on all these things it felt very overwhelming… but we are getting there! We are finding our groove and life with three is honestly so much easier than I ever expected. It amazes me how the Lord gives grace to us as mothers and grows our capacity when we need it!

This is just a quick update and there is sooo much more I could share, but my time is limited as life is very full these days. However, I will leave you with these verses from my Bible reading today:

And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ. Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.” Philippians 1:9-11
