Twenty Characteristics of a Radiant Young Woman Part Two

Last Tuesday I shared the first ten characteristics from 20 Characteristics of a Radiant Young Woman // Part One. If you haven’t read that post yet you can read it here. πŸ˜‰ Now on to the next 10 characteristics…

20 Characteristics of a Radiant Young Woman // Part Two

11) Generous

A radiant young woman is generous. She isn’t afraid to give. She knows she has been given much and in return she wants to bless others. She doesn’t have to think about it for a long time… she just simply gives out of a kind and loving heart. She receives joy as result of giving to others. She knows that in order to receive a blessing she must first be a blessing. Her generosity blesses others and brings even greater joy to her own life.

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete, withal it shall be measured to you again.” Luke 6:38

12) Friendly

A radiant young woman is friendly. Β She reaches out to others and befriends them… even if it means she must go out of her comfort zone to do so. She knows that to have friends she must be friendly (Proverbs 18:24). She is quick to smile and say a kind word. Those around her know that they can find a true friend in her. Her friendship is appreciated by those who know her, and her friendliness makes strangers feel warmed and welcomed.

“A friend loveth at all times…” Proverbs 17:17

“A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24

13) Healthy

A radiant young woman is healthy. She cares for her body to the best of her ability because she knows her body is a temple (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Even if she is ill, she can still cultivate a healthy mind and heart. She understands her body’s need for work and rest and strives for a healthy balance of both. Her health and vitality adds radiance to her spirit and countenance.

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price, therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

14) Disciplined

A radiant young woman is disciplined. She knows how to say “no” to fleshly wants and desires. She is careful not to overindulge in any area… whether it be too much sleep, too much food, or too much of anything that isn’t healthy for her body or soul. She has learned how to control her emotions and her appetites. She has learned to do hard and necessary things even when she doesn’t feel like doing them. She has disciplined herself so that she can walk in greater godliness.

“He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty: and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.” Proverbs 16:32

“But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection…” 1 Corinthians 9:27

15) Quiet

A radiant young woman is quiet. She does not argue andΒ she does not force her opinions on others. She is careful not to become loud and obnoxious. While she is not afraid to laugh and have fun, she knows how to do so in a meek and quiet way. She does not talk loud and does not try to draw unnecessary attention to herself. She has learned how to laugh and have fun without becoming the center of attention. Because she has fun in a quiet and humble way, she is admired and respected.

“But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God, of great price.” 1 Peter 3:4

16) Determined

A radiant young woman is determined. She sets goals according to God’s plan and purpose for her life and passionately sets out to reach them. She does not become discouraged by obstacles but instead uses the obstacles to fuel her forward. She does not allow herself to become weary in well doing (Galatians 6:9) and she knows Who to turn to for strength (Philippians 4:13). Her passionate determination is another shining quality and will be rewarded by her Heavenly Father.

“Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.” 1 Corinthians 9:24

17) Modest

A radiant young woman is modest. She does not act or dress in ways that will draw unnecessary attention to herself or her body. She is careful not to encourage lustful thoughts in young men by what she wears. She does not cover her body out of shame but out of respect and reverence for her body and the One Who created it. Her modest dress and actions are noticed and appreciated by those who value modesty and godliness.

“In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacednes and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.” 1 Timothy 2:9-10

18) Fearless

A radiant young woman is fearless. She has a healthy fear and reverence for her Heavenly father (Proverbs 31:30) but she does not live in fear. She goes to her Heavenly Father with her fears and worries and finds deliverance from themΒ in Him. Because she trusts in Him she has no need to fear. Her fearless faith and trust in God is a radiant and shining quality in her life.

“I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4

19) Rested

A radiant young woman is rested. She know that it is hard to be godly when tired and exhausted. She makes time for rest and margin and is diligent about getting enough sleep. She knows that God is the giver of rest (Psalm 127:2) and that it was created for her benefit. Because she is rested she has more strength and energy to serve God. Being rested helps her live a radiant life.

“It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late… for so he giveth his beloved sleep.” Psalm 127:2

20) Prayerful

A radiant young woman prays. Above all, her secret to radiance is her prayer life and walk with God. Through prayer she receives the grace and help needed to be the light of Christ to the world (Matthew 5:16). She prays boldly, diligently, and frequently. She doesn’t just pray for herself, she intercedes and prays for others as well. She has learned that the secret to living a godly, radiant life is taking everything to the Lord in prayer. Prayer is her “secret weapon” and she uses it daily. She is radiant because she prays and walks with God.

“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you… These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” John 15:7, 11

  1. I definitely need to work on Kindness,Gentle,Healthy,Prayerful, and Patient. I know there are many more but those are a couple I know I need to work on. πŸ˜‰

  2. All so true! The disciplined one would probably be my hardest, although I’d say the restful would would be pretty close. These pointers would make a great printable…put each characteristic and the verse that goes with it on a page πŸ™‚

    1. I would love to make this list into a printable! πŸ™‚ I will probably do that sometime… unfortunately I am putting new printables on hold for now! I am busy planning for the summer and have things I need to create for that πŸ™‚

  3. I love all of these! Health is something that I am having to learn, going through illness. Obviously, I’m not healthy right now lol But I’m understanding the importance of doing what we can to take care of this body and life that God gave us! And Quiet is another one I need to work on. I’m not a loud or obnoxious person, but sometimes I have trouble when I disagree with something. I guess I can be a little too outspoken and critical on occasions, which definitely ain’t pretty lol

  4. This post is so great! I love to study tue biblical femininity. Please, post more inspiration, more studies on Bible’s women and other great books. πŸ™‚
