Good Morning Everyone,
Today I want to wish my fiance’ a very, very, Happy Birthday!
This post is another “not-your-typical-blog-post” but I am oh so happy and blessed to be writing it. Adam and I have been engaged for over a month now (wow, that first month went fast!). The wedding plans are coming together and our countdown has begun! 🙂
I have been extremely blessed with an amazing fiance’ (and a great future family!). This post is not to brag – although he deserves every bit of praise I can give! So, since this week is Adam’s birthday, this post is for him.
However, this post is also for all the young women out there waiting and praying for their “Knight in Shining Armor”. All the things I love about my handsome fiance’ are the very things I wish every young woman could find in a future husband. Godly young men are hard to come by these days… and I don’t know why God blessed me with mine, but here’s what I love about my man (and what I hope for each one of you!).
What I Love About My Fiance’
He Is a Godly Leader
My pastor’s wife once told me “Make sure you marry someone who can lead you spiritually.” At the time, her statement worried me…
Until I met Adam.
He is an amazing leader. He’s wise, decisive, and knows how to take a stand. I feel so incredibly safe and confident allowing him to lead – spiritually and otherwise. I trust him to continue leading me, and I trust him to lead our someday home and our future family (if God blesses us with children).
Girls, please never underestimate the importance of finding a young man who can lead. Your responsibility will be to submit and help him. If he is not a good leader, your job will be made a whole lot more difficult.God created men to be the leaders… make sure you find a good one. 🙂
He Consistently Walks With God
I admire my man’s dedication when it comes to daily devotions and time with God. Throughout college, and even now with his crazy schedule, he consistently carves out the proper amount of time to meet with God each morning.
I would really struggle to get up at the time he does each morning…. and yet he does it so faithfully. His time with God is extremely important to him, and that means so much to me!
He Is Trustworthy
I can trust Adam when it comes to…. everything.
I trust him with my feelings, because he knows they are real, and sometimes fragile. He doesn’t take them lightly but rather takes them into his consideration.
I trust Adam with my thoughts and opinions, because he values them.
I trust Adam with my heart because he doesn’t take it for granted. He is incredibly loyal to me and that makes my heart oh so happy and safe.
He Loves His Family
The summer I met Adam, this is one of the things I noticed very early. He talks a lot about his family, he loves his little sister, and he makes time for all of them.
One Sunday he needed a place to go for lunch so our family had him over for our traditional “Sunday Spaghetti”. After lunch we were all chatting around the dinner table and he started talking about his little sister. Something about the tone of his voice, and the way he talked about her, made my heart melt a little bit.
Looking back, I remember that conversation so clearly. Why? Because when he talked about his family, and his sister, there was love in his voice.
Fast forward to now… and I KNOW he is going to be an amazing husband and father someday. I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that he loves me and he is going to love his own family someday.
He Doesn’t Have a Short Fuse (a.k.a. a Temper)
It’s always been important to me that my future husband NOT be “given to anger”. It’s one thing to see a man who is angry as a result of “righteous anger”. However, foolishly getting angry over silly matters, or at other people is something I would prefer not to live with. If someone yells at me or gets angry with me, I shut down inside. So, I’m very thankful Adam doesn’t have a temper!
He is a Reader
Every leader is a reader, and my man lives this out. I don’t know how he manages to read as much as he does… but I am so thankful he loves learning! His desire to read tells me he has a desire to grow.
Reading is very near and dear to my heart so I’m absolutely thrilled to have a fiance’ who loves to read. 🙂 I love talking about the books we read, I love having our weekly book study, and I love it when we read together.
He is Always Cheering Me On
Adam is always cheering me on. It is so amazing to have someone who believes in me and is constantly encouraging me in my creative pursuits…. especially this blog.
He’s my number one supporter and encourages me like no one else.
He Is Always Positive
Seriously. He’s always looking on the bright side. I didn’t realize I was such a negative person until I discovered his super positive way of thinking. He is so good for me. Whenever something gets me down he always gives me hope.
He Takes Super Good Care of Me
He knows I get stressed out. He knows I need my sleep. He knows I don’t drink enough water… and he does his best to help me with all three. But that’s just the beginning.
The other week when I had my wisdom teeth removed, he knew I was dreading the whole ordeal (side note: it wasn’t bad at all!). The morning of my “surgery” he texted me over a dozen times, called me, and prayed with me… just to make me feel better. Afterwards, he checked up on me, brought me chocolate, and even made me an amazing peach smoothie. And since we couldn’t have a normal date night he brought over a movie so I wouldn’t have to talk much. I felt so loved. ♥
He does so many other things to take good care of me… like asking me questions so he knows what I want, what I think, how I feel, etc.
I am one spoiled girl. 🙂
He Is Romantic
Hidden letters, surprise lunch dates, little gifts, big gifts, chocolate, and more… I’m not trying to make anyone jealous… I am just extremely blessed and he deserves to be publicly thanked for everything! 🙂
He’s Not Perfect, But He’s Perfect for Me
I know I make him sound perfect (and personally, I think he’s very close!). But… we are both sinners, neither of us are perfect and we goof. But this one thing I know: he just right for me. 🙂
A Birthday Wish
Adam, I wish you the happiest of birthdays. You deserve to have a day as wonderful and amazing as you. You make me smile so much my face hurts. You brighten my bad days and sweeten my good ones. You’re an amazing leader and I am so proud to follow you. Please don’t ever forget how much I respect and admire you. Happy Birthday, Adam… I love you!! ♥
“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.” Philippians 1:3
Oh Rebekah! You are a very blessed girl! Thank you for posting this! I enjoyed reading it and am thrilled that God has blessed you with this kind of man. It is encouraging just to be reminded that though few, there are real godly young men out there.
Thank you, Laura! Yes, I feel extremely blessed, and sooo thankful. It is true that godly young men are hard to find…. But they are still out there! ☺️
Thank you, thank you, thank you for treating me so special. What a wonderful birthday gift….thank you a million times over! What else can I say but Praise be to God for leading us to each other! When I think of you, I think of a very good illustration of the Proverbs 31 virtuous woman. I don’t know what I did to deserve your love and admiration but I am privileged to be your fiance’.
Ladies, I hope you put into practice the Biblical principles Rebekah posts. These principles will enhance your walk with God, enhance your relationship with others, and give you the foundation necessary to find the right husband and have a godly home.
Thank you again Rebekah! I LOVE you with all my heart and I can’t wait to marry you!
Your Loving Fiance’,

Okay Rebekah, I love this!! First of all, I’m a sap anyways lol! But most importantly, I love hearing how God provides and orchestrates things, and this definitely brings honor and glory to God! When I first started reading your blog, you were still a single gal, trusting God for His best in your life. I loved you sharing your heart about it. Now we’re all getting to see how God has been faithful and has provided you with more you could ever ask for! So no worries, brag away! Because it’s bragging on God 🙂
Aww thank you sooo much, Elizabeth!! It is amazing to look back and see how far God has brought me, and all the wonderful things He has done in my life. Thanks for being such a faithful reader, and for following along this far!
Aw, loved this post!! Thank you for sharing and I can see that both you AND Adam are extremely blessed 🙂
