October Reads: What I’m Reading Month by Month

Read my E-Book, Radiant Modesty, to learn how to embrace God's ideal for the clothing we wear!

Hello Friends!

October was a great month – but not for reading! I don’t know about you, but I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump. Between a lack of desire and a lack of time/effort I only read ONE book in October (and it was a short one!).

As you follow along on these monthly reading posts, I hope you can see that just because I may read a LOT of books one month, doesn’t mean I always read the same amount throughout the year. I suppose this is a little #reality post for those who may assume that I read all. the. time.

This past month I chose to spend my time in other ways, researching things online, putting together some jigsaw puzzles, playing games in the evening with my husband, etc. Sometimes you just needs a break from reading!

I did thoroughly enjoy the one book I read last month, so I will go ahead and tell you about it – of course. 😉

October Reads: What I’m Reading Month by Month

My Mother’s Secret by J.L. Witterick

This is another Holocaust story based on the life of a Polish woman who risked her life to save some Jewish families and a German soldier. This is a short book with short chapters so it did not take long for me to be captivated by the story. The story is told through the eyes of four different people, so you get a different perspective in each quarter of the book. There was no mention of God throughout the entire book, so I don’t believe it was written by a Christian author, however, I was pleasantly surprised with the appropriateness of the book.  From what I can remember, there was no bad language or inappropriate content at all. There was a love story in the beginning of the book which was very sweet. In the end, I managed to read the entire book in one afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed it! I gave the book 4 stars on Goodreads.

P.S. I found this book in my town’s “little free library” and it’s a keeper for sure! Let this be your friendly reminder to check those little free libraries from time-to-time and you might just find a gem!

Yearly Reading Goal

There’s only two months left in the year! How are you coming along on your reading goal for 2021?

My goal for this year is 52 books and I’m currently at 46 books. I just need to read 3 books each month for the rest of this year (that shouldn’t be a problem as long as I can get out of this reading slump!). My average is usually 4 books per month.
