5 Things Every Girl Must Know This Valentine's Day. Whether you are a single, dating, engaged, or married Christian young woman, there are 5 things you MUST know this Valentine's Day.

It’s almost Valentine’s Day! Whether you’re single, dating/courting, engaged, or already married… there are 5 things I want each one of you to know and remember this Valentine’s Day. These 5 things are truths I wish I would have solidified in my mind and heart much sooner – and I’m still working on it too! 🙂

As women, we often struggle with the same insecurities, doubts, and fears, but as children of God, we can be free from all of them! So, regardless of your relationship status, here are five truths you must know this Valentines Day!

5 Things Every Girl Must Know This Valentine’s Day

1. You are Loved

The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee.” Jeremiah 31:3

Ladies, this is a verse for us to read over and over again, to memorize, meditate on, and brand upon on our hearts and minds. Why? Because this verse assures us that we are loved. So many of us have had those doubt-filled moments, wondering… “am I really loved?” And this verse answers that question with a resounding, “YES!”

This isn’t just any love… it’s not the love that we are accustomed to here on earth. This is a supernatural, everlasting love from above. This is the perfect love of our Heavenly Father!

Relationships here on earth are imperfect. Even those who make it their goal to love like Christ are still going to fail from time to time. No one is perfect…. except our Heavenly Father!

So, the next time you are feeling less than loved, remember this truth right from the mouth of your Heavenly Father, “I have loved thee with an everlasting love.”

2. You Will Never Stop Being Loved

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, not depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

Just in case that last truth didn’t resonate in your heart, remember this one: You will never stop being loved! Nothing you do (past, present, or future) will ever make God love you any more, or make God love you any less! His love is always consistent, never changing, never ceasing.

So, that awful sin you committed in the past? It didn’t change God’s love for you.

That big, ugly, habit still ingrained in your life? God loves you in spite of it.

As imperfect humans, we are accustomed to conditional love. Meaning we love (and are loved) as long as certain conditions are met and upheld. We think “as long as they love me, I will continue loving them.” And we unconsciously believe that, “as long as I don’t mess up, and stay beautiful (or skinny, or talented, or popular) they will continue to love me.”

But this is so wrong. It’s not the way God intended love to be. His love is unconditional. His love doesn’t change when we mess up, when we fail, or when we don’t love Him the way we should.

Your inconsistent love for God doesn’t change His love for you.

So always remember this: no matter what you do, or how you fail, you will never STOP being loved by your Heavenly Father.

3. You Will Never Be Forsaken

“…for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Hebrews 13:5b

Not only will God never stop loving you, He will never leave you.

I don’t know about you, but in the past I’ve had that irrational fear of being left all alone, of being completely and utterly forsaken. As women, the thought of being forsaken has the potential of shaking us to the core. We need and want a protector, a savior, a knight in shining armor, to rescue and protect us, the “damsel in distress.” Well, ladies, we have one! It’s not Mr. Right, it’s our Heavenly Father, and His Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

As daughters of God we can never be forsaken because our God is always with us!

4. You Don’t Need to Be “Good Enough”… Just Growing

For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:8-10

Do you ever get the feeling sometimes that you just aren’t “good enough”? I feel that way sometimes. There are moments when we feel we aren’t pretty enough, smart enough, talented enough, friendly enough… and on and on our “not good enough list” could go. But you know what? With God, we don’t need to be good enough. We never will be! Our works don’t get us to Heaven! God’s grace and our faith in Him paves the way.

Our Heavenly Father saves us through the shed blood of Jesus Christ His Son and that is enough. It’s nothing that we do – it’s all God. Our only job is to believe on Him. After that, God just wants us to keep growing. He wants us to put off the old man, walk in the spirit, and serve Him. He doesn’t expect us to be perfect or “good enough” because He knows we aren’t capable of that but He does expect us to growing daily in grace and holiness.

And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created is created in righteousness and true holiness.” Ephesians 4:24

You don’t need to be “good enough”. You just need to know and believe that what Christ did was enough.

5. You Must Love God and Others

We love him because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19

And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.” 1 John 4:21

Because God loves us, He wants us to respond to that love! He wants and desires our love in return. It’s not enough to just know the above truths. We must respond to them in faith. And that means we need to love God in return. So my friend, how is your love for God today? Are you truly loving Him? Do you obey His Word and His commands? Are you daily in His Word and prayer? Would others be able to look at you and clearly see that you love God?

If we are truly loving God, we will also be loving others. How is your love for others today? Are you loving and obeying God by…

  • Loving your family members?

  • Honoring your parents?

  • Loving your brothers and sisters in Christ?

  • Obeying what you read in the Word of God?

  • Making the Bible the sole authority of your life?

God’s love calls for a response from us. Are you going to love and obey God in return? Are you going to love others like God has loved you?

Final Thoughts

These five truths have the potential to change your life. If you let them! How are you going to respond to these five truths today?

  • You are loved. Are you going to allow this truth to sink into your mind and heart? Are you content in the love of God?

  • You will never stop being loved. It’s time to realize that your faults and failures don’t change God’s love for you. And it’s time to realized that the trials you face do not mean God has stopped loving you.

  • You will never be forsaken. He is always there. You only need to acknowledge His presence and remember that He will never leave you utterly forsaken.

  • You don’t need to be “good enough”… just growing. You can stop trying so hard. Christ’s shed blood is enough but God does expect you to be growing. What are you doing to grow in grace and holiness?

  • You must love God and others. God’s love calls for a response. Will you respond in love and obedience to God? Are you willing to love others as He has loved you?

If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15

Before You Go…

  • Which one of these truths or thoughts did you need the most today?

  • How will you respond to God’s love for you? What steps do you need to take to begin loving God more?

  • How can you show love to others this week?

  • If this post was a help to you, would you be willing to share this with others? (You can pin, tweet, or like this post to share.)

I hope you all have a wonderful Valentines Day, reveling in the the truth that you are loved, and responding to that truth by loving God and others!

Happy Valentines Day! ♥

  1. Happy Valentine’s Day, Rebekah!! May it be a day full of rejoicing in God’s love!

Ah, I love the reminder of the fact that we are loved. That is a truth the Lord has been bringing home fresh to my heart in the last couple years. He loves us not just as people made in His image and for whom He’s died, but individually too. As unique creations. (Psalm 139:13-14, Zephaniah 3:17) It’s incredible to catch a glimpse of His joy in us personally. 🙂 And I’m looking forward to being able to love others more fully and freely as a result.

    Sending a hug your way,
    Melanie
