Hey Friends!
So, last week’s post was on the topic of sin and fighting temptations. Not exactly the most pleasant topic in the world to write about. However, I’m continuing that same theme this week with some Bible verses to help you in whatever struggle you are facing.
If you missed last week’s post you can read it here.
There are so many Bible verses in God’s Word dealing with sin. Many talk about sin in general, others talk about very specific sins… some speak about being holy and living righteously. Because we all struggle with sin (and we each struggle with similar yet different sins), I want to share a list of Bible verses that will help you in the fight against sin, no matter what specific temptation you may have.
Take the time to jot a few of these verses down, and memorize some of them too! Any one of these Bible verses are great to have in your memory bank for when temptations arise.
Remember, we are supposed to hide God’s Word in our hearts so that we don’t sin against Him (Psalm 119:11).
Bible Verses To Help You Gain Victory Over Sin

Psalm 51:10
“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10
Proverbs 28:13
“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” Proverbs 28:13
Romans 6:13-14
“Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the death, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” Romans 6:13-14
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price, therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
1 Corinthians 10:13
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:31

Ephesians 4:22-24
“That ye put off concerning the former conversation, the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” Ephesians 4:22-24

(Note: Ephesians 6:10-18 would be a great passage to memorize! It goes over the entire armour of God and what each piece stands for, and why we need it! Because it’s a bit lengthy I decided not to include the whole passage, but I would encourage you to look it up! 🙂 )
Philippians 4:8

If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” 2 Timothy 2:20-23

Hebrews 12:1-2
“Wherefore, seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2

See you next Thursday! ♥
All these verses are so powerful…I definitely want to memorize more of them!
I am doing a study on the many passages the Bible teaches on how to have victory over sin, as part of my interest in obsessive, compulsive or addictive sins. Thanks for this list, which is very useful.
Much of my experience is based on the problem in Romans 7 – I keep doing what I don’t want to do, and I don’t do what I want to do. I love the solution in Romans 8: “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” There’s the answer – walk according to the Spirit.

I can identify! Be encouraged and be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might! Pray for me and I’ll do the same for you!!
