What are the characteristics of a radiant young woman?
I love the thought of being radiant. However, when people look at me, I can’t say I’m always a radiant reflection of my Savior. That should be the goal… but I fail so often and in so many ways. I always will, but by God’s grace you and I can cultivate the characteristics of a radiant young woman.
With that being said, let’s look at just some of the characteristics that make a young woman truly radiant.
20 Characteristics of a Radiant Young Woman // Part One
1) Confident
A radiant young woman is confident. However, she isn’t confident in herself and her abilities, she is confident in Christ. She knows that she can do all things through Him who gives her strength (Philippians 4:13). She is not afraid of people because she fears the Lord instead of men (Proverbs 31:30). Her confidence is seen by all because she is trusting in the Lord, daily.
“For the Lord shall be thy confidence…” Proverbs 3:26
2) Joyful
A radiant young woman is joyful. She can find joy even through difficulty because she is trusting in the Lord and rejoicing in Him (Psalm 5:11). She realizes that joy comes from being in the presence of Jesus (Psalm 16:11) and when she is walking with Him and trusting in Him, her joy will be a light to those around her.
“But let all those that put their trust in the rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.” Psalm 5:11

3) Kind
A radiant young woman is kind to everyone. She shows kindness towards those who are young, old, poor and needy… she also shows kindness to those who are “different“. To her, everyone is deserving of kindness. She is quick to reach out with a small (or large) act of kindness and she always has a kind word to say. Her kindness is genuine and comes from the heart.
“…in her tongue is the law of kindness.” Proverbs 31:26
“Charity suffereth long, and is kind…” 1 Corinthians 13:4
4) Wise
A radiant young woman is wise. She doesn’t follow the wisdom of the world but instead goes to the Lord in prayer to ask for His wisdom (James 1:5). She gleans wisdom from: reading the Word of God, going to a church that preaches the Word of God, and asking for wise counsel from godly parents and adults. She rejects foolishness and embraces wisdom. As a result, her God-given wisdom is honored and respected by all.
“She openeth her mouth with wisdom…” Proverbs 31:26
“Wisdom is the principal thing: therefore get wisdom; and with all thy getting get understanding.” Proverbs 4:7
5) Loving
A radiant young woman loves freely and unconditionally. Because her Father loves her so much, she can love Him and others in return (1 John 4:11). Her love isn’t just stated in her words, but is clearly seen in her attitudes and actions as well (1 John 3:18). Her love is real and genuine. Others are drawn to her because they know she will love them unconditionally. Her loving ways are a reflection to the world of the love of Christ.
“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” John 13:34
6) Pure
A radiant young woman is pure. She knows that she needs to go to Heavenly Father for cleansing and that is how she can live with a clean and pure heart (Psalm 51:10). She guards her heart (Proverbs 4:23) from anything that would taint her purity. She is careful what she places before her eyes, she casts down imaginations, and brings into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Her radiant purity is a light in this dark and sinful world.
“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it flow the issues of life.” Proverbs 4;24
“…Cleanse your hands…and purify your hearts…” James 4:8
7) Gentle
A radiant young woman is gentle. She is not harsh in her words or her actions. Even when annoyed, angered, or frustrated, she chooses to be gentle. Her gentleness is admired by those who see her caring for children, reaching out to those who are elderly, or responding to an angry person. Instead of being harsh, she chooses to be gentle. Her gentleness is a shining character trait in her life.
“But the fruit of the spirit is… gentleness.” Galatians 5:22
8) Humble
A radiant young woman is humble. She does not think of herself more highly than she ought to think (Romans 12:3), and she is careful to guard against pride. She knows she is nothing in and of herself… her worth is found in Christ. She knows that her Heavenly Father resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). She is diligent to weed out the little roots of pride that so easily begin to grow in every heart. Because she spends time in the presence of her holy Heavenly Father she knows she has no right to be proud in any way. Because of this, her humility is a light to those around her. In her humility she is exalted (Luke 14:11).
“…be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.” 1 Peter 5:5-6
9) Beautiful
A radiant young woman is beautiful… inside and out. Her beauty comes from the heart and is shown in her countenance. Her heart is beautiful because it is genuine and pure. While she may not exactly be a model on the outside, her beautiful heart and personality are admired and noticed by all. She doesn’t neglect her outer beauty either. She understands the importance of a well-kept and attractive appearance. She strives to be feminine and lovely. However, she spends more time fixing up her heart than she does fixing up her face or her hair. Because of the time she spends beautifying her heart, her inner beauty is seen on the outside. Her beautiful heart is a shining characteristic.
“She was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance…” 1 Samuel 25:3
“Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning, of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.” 1 Peter 3:3-4
10) Patient
A radiant young woman is patient. She is patient with others and she is patient in waiting on God’s timing (Psalm 62:5). She doesn’t worry or fret when things don’t go as planned because she knows her Heavenly Father is in control. She waits on Him. When working with people she is patient and understanding of their faults. She doesn’t become impatient when people don’t see things the way she thinks they should…she chooses to be understanding instead. Her patience in waiting on God’s timing and her patience with others is noticed and admired by others… but especially noticed by her Heavenly Father.
“Be not hasty in thy spirit…” Ecclesiastes 7:9
“Charity suffereth long…” 1 Corinthians 13:4

I love this list! And I do desire to be all of these things. But like you, I have some things to work on too! lol One of my shortcomings would be patience. God’s really done a lot in my heart where I’m able to wait on Him and trust Him more. But, I still have zero patience for people sometimes lol Definitely need to work on that!
Oh yes… patience! I can relate 😉
I need to work on patience too.
I appreciate God for this post, it really blessed my spirit, soul and body.
God bless you man.
Am a man but I enjoy it.
