Thinking About God

Thinking About God

Throughout the years I have sporadically taken notes during church.  Unfortunately, once I have the notes I don’t usually review them.  The other night, on a whim, I decided to skim through some of my old “sermon notes” and I came across a message my Pastor preached back in March.  I never recorded the title but the Scripture and the few notes I jotted down were very enlightening… and challenging to me.

The Verse: “I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.” Psalm 77:12

From this verse we learn that we should…

In the above verse, “meditate” and “talk” mean the same thing!  The word “talk” literally means to ponder or “talk to oneself.” Do you ever just sit and think about God and His Word?

In his message my Pastor shared these two “key thoughts:” 🙂

  • Mediation is the KEY to your relationship with God.
  • Meditation is the KEY to being Biblical in your thinking.

Meditating on God and His Word will help us grow in the Lord and walk according to His ways.

I don’t know about you but I don’t naturally just think about God and His Word.  I need to intentionally set my mind on Him.

To have a radiant relationship with Christ which will result in a radiant life, we must “Set [our] affection on things above…” Colossians 3:2

{I would love to know} Do you find it helpful to take notes in church? Do you struggle to think about God and His Word?

  1. Thanks for the post. 🙂 I really enjoyed reading it. I always love taking notes in church! 🙂 And yes I find it helpful! 🙂 I have had some trouble thinking about God and His Word.

  2. I actually don’t take notes in church! Sometimes I’ll write a thing or two in the margin of my Bible, but other than that I don’t. I really probably should though! I love to think about the Lord! I don’t do it often enough though.
