June Favorites | What I'm Reading, Using, + Loving

Hi Friends!

I woke up this morning thinking it was still June – haha nope! July is already here. I wish I could say I’m ready for a brand new month – but there’s a lot happening for us in July! First there’s a deputation meeting in New York, then a missions trip with our church teens, Vacation Bible Time, get-togethers with family and friends, and so much more! I am excited for everything that’s coming, I just hope we can survive this busy month without too many things (like proper sleep!) falling through the cracks. πŸ˜‰

I plan to share my July goals sometime later this week… but today’s post is all about my June favorites. My brain feels fuzzy today so I’m trying to remember everything I enjoyed over the past month! It was a busier month than I expected.

June Favorites | What I’m Reading, Using, and Loving

Books and Such…

Submerged

I did very little reading this month – I just didn’t feel like reading much of anything. However, I did feel in the mood for a good, gripping story. So, one day this past month when I was at the library, I googled the best Christian fiction series and the Alasken Courage Series popped up. Since I was at the library, I went looking for the first book and found it! This book proved to be just as gripping as the cover made it look and sound!

This book was full of mystery, humor, romance, and page-turning drama! It was just what I needed to get me back into a “reading mood”.

For younger readers, this book did have a little bit of adult content – although it was mild, not descriptive, and mainly came out in the dialogue. This is just a friendly warning, in case you are a young reader!

Elisha’s Bones

Clearly, I’ve been in the mood for fiction (which is rare!). I picked up this book on a whim at the library because the title caught my eye. It started out rather slow, but the story is finally picking up and getting hard to put down (I haven’t quite finished it yet). This book is all about an archaeologist hired to search for the bones of Elisha the prophet – remember in the OT how the bones of Elisha were able to bring a dead man back to life? Yeah, well that knowledge and a crazy search for these missing bones has made this book a rather intriguing read. I can’t wait to see what happens!

Movies, Music, and Media

Little Women

I haven’t seen Little Women in years! I found this new version by PBS that looked interesting, so my husband and I gave it a try. The story is broken down into three different episodes that are each an hour-long. They aren’t as good as the 1933 version (which happens to be my favorite by the way) but we still enjoyed this “re-telling” of the story! I also like the fact that they broke it down into three episodes, since it is a rather long movie. The story line was very similar to the original movies, but of course the actors and much of the dialogue was different.

Do you have a favorite version of Little Women? Growing up, my friends and I all had a different favorite because there are so many!

Snacks and Recipes…

Healthy Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Muffins

I made these “healthier” chocolate muffins last week and they were absolutely delicious. They were just the thing I needed to satisfy my sweet tooth (and I have a big one)! πŸ˜‰ These tasted the best with a little bit of peanut butter spread on the top like icing – this way they look and taste like a cupcake! I will definitely be making these muffins again sometime soon. I love that they are made with oats instead of flour and there is no refined sugar in these muffins at all (except for the chocolate chips of course)! I used coconut sugar in these muffins as my sweetener of choice – plus the ripe bananas gave it a sweet taste as well!

Deebee’s Organics Super Fruit Freezies

I found this healthier version of freezer pops at my local Grocery Outlet and had to give these a try! Made completely from fruit juice(s) there are no refined sugars or yucky food dyes in these yummy popsicles. Hubby and I have been enjoying these fruit freezies as a yummy treat on a hot evening. Even though they’re made for kids, we certainly enjoy them too! I think the Strawberry flavor is my favorite!

Fashion Finds From Around the Web…

Striped “Tracie Skirt”

Striped Tracie Skirt - Pink

I’m loving these new, fun skirts from Tickled Teal. They look absolutely perfect for summer – lightweight and fun! My favorite is definitely this pink one, but they come in several other colors as well. These skirts would be perfect for Wednesday night church, a family picnic, or just a day out shopping. Which color is your favorite?

White Denim Skirt

If you’re looking for a white, denim skirt for summer… then look no further! This white denim skirt from Amazon looks perfect. Falling just below the knee, I love the length of this skirt as well as the crisp, clean white color of the denim. Summer is definitely the season for wearing white and this skirt would go perfectly with so many summer tops!

Final Thoughts

Well friends, those are my June favorites! It’s definitely a shorter list than some months, but I know you will still love these items. Let me know in the comments what you have been reading, using, and loving! I always to love hear about your monthly favorites as well! πŸ™‚

If you enjoyed this post, then you will enjoy seeing my past “monthly favorites” posts!

  1. Nice! My goal for this month is to learn how to drive and to write more books.I have written five already! I love writing. It’s one of my favorite things to do!β™₯️😊😊😊

  2. Rebekah, I think the 1933 version of Little Women is one of my favorites as well! You just can’t beat Katherine Hepburn. Although I did like the PBS version, especially the cinematography and the fact there was more of Mr. March. (What I didn’t like is that I thought they put in more of a romance between Jo and Laurie than there should have been. Yech.)

I always love your style picks! Have you heard of Inherit Clothing Co? You should definitely check them out. I just got a below-the-knee denim skirt from them that I love!

    1. I totally agree – about both the 1933 version and the new PBS one as well!

Yes, I have heard of Inherit Clothing Co… I’m actually going to be doing a collab with them here on the blog sometime this month. So, keep your eyes out for that! πŸ™‚

  3. What is the movie Little Women about Rebekah??? I’ve heard of the book and the story Little Men but I’ve never seen the movie before??? Where do you buy it? Who wrote it???

    1. Little Women is a classic written by Louisa May Alcott. It’s a fictional story but she based much of the story and the characters on her own family. It’s a lovely book about Jo March and her three sisters, their family, and all the trials and adventures the girls went through as they became “young women”. It’s really a very lovely story. Here’s a link to the book and some of the movies they’ve made based off the story: https://amzn.to/2Xr2XLD

Little Men is about Jo March after she gets married and starts a home for troubled boys. The book Little Women comes first.

  4. Thanks for sharing your favorites, Rebekah!

Elisha’s Bones sounds really interesting. I’ll have to check it out sometime!

I only ever remember seeing the 1933 version of Little Women, and I liked it enough that I never felt a need to look for another versions of the film.

Those “Healthy Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Muffins” look SO good I might just have to give the recipe a try!

This June, I’ve been reading “A Young Woman After God’s Own Heart,” which I know you’ve read before. I’ve also been enjoying “The Family Daughter” by Sarah L. Bryant. It’s a really encouraging, helpful book for young ladies still living at home with their family. (If you’d like to check it out, the book is only $6 here: https://kingsbloomingrose.com/thefamilydaughter.html)

    1. Yes, I just finished Elisha’s Bones and it was good – the beginning was kind of dry, but it got very suspenseful at the end.

Thanks for the book recommendation. It sounds like a really great book – I will definitely check it out. Thanks for the link! β™₯
