How Every Young Woman Can Pray for Her Nation. Wondering how to pray for America? Here are several ways you can start praying for our country!

Good Morning Friends,

I realize the U.S. Presidential Election took place over a week ago, however, I’ve continued to feel burdened for my country. Sometimes, I wonder how in the world I can make a difference for the Lord in this country. America has been headed in the wrong direction for so long – how can I possibly make a difference?

Do you feel the same way?

Well friend, there are some things we can do to make a difference – lots of things… but the best thing we can do is pray for our country.

Before last week’s elections took place, I wasn’t exactly sure how to pray. One thing I kept praying over and over again was this: “Lord, please have mercy on our nation.”

Last Wednesday night, my Pastor challenged our church to continue in prayer and fasting for our country even though the election is over. We as born again Christians must continue to pray for our country and the for the man who will soon become our president.

After the challenge from my Pastor, and some discussion among our church family, I now have better idea of how to continue praying for my country. These are things you and I can pray for our Nation (even if you live outside of the U.S.). The fervent prayers of righteous men and woman will avail much (James 5:16)!

How Every Young Woman Can Pray for Her Nation

Pray for Our Nation’s Leaders

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men; for kings, and for all the are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.” 1 Timothy 2:1-2

We must be praying for the political leaders of our nation! Not just casually mentioning our Nation’s leaders during prayer, but earnestly and fervently praying for them. Just imagine what could happen if the men and women leading our country became born again Christians and began whole-heartedly following Christ? Sound impossible?

…With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

“…If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” Matthew 17:20-21

We must pray in faith, believing that God can still work in the hearts of the men and women leading our Nation.

Pray for their salvation, pray for the decisions they make, and pray for those who are already following Christ to stand strong for Him.

Pray for the Schools and Universities

“To open their eyes, and to turn them from from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.” Acts 26:18

Our Nation is rejecting God – especially in the schools and universities. Prayer is no longer present, God is scorned and mocked, and Christians are joining the world’s side. The students in our schools and universities will one day become some of our Nation’s leaders. They are being taught worldly ideals and philosophies that go directly against God and the Bible.

We must pray for the schools and universities – that teachers and students would turn their hearts back to God. That Christians would take a stand and make a difference. We must pray that the Word of God and prayer would be allowed back into our Nation’s schools.

Pray for Freedom to Continue

“…For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required…” Luke 12:48

“Moreover it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful.” 1 Corinthians 4:2

Last week in a conversation with my brother, I began to rant on this subject a bit. Many people are worried about losing specific freedoms, including the freedom of speech. Yet, how many people are using their freedom to do what is most importantshare Christ and the message of the gospel?  We’ve been given so much freedom in this country but we must use it to share Christ with others!

We also must pray for our freedoms to continue. If we lose our freedom, we will not be allowed to worship God in public, pray in public, read God’s Word in public, or send missionaries to other countries, etc.

Use your freedoms to share Christ and pray for freedom to continue!

Pray for Boldness

“Pray always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance, and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly as I ought to speak.” Ephesians 6:18-20

We can pray for boldness. Boldness for other Christians to speak of the Gospel, and boldness for ourselves to share Christ and to take a strong stand for Him. We as Christians must be bold – and we can pray that the Lord would give us boldness we need.

Be bold. Take a stand… and pray for more boldness for you and other Christians!

Pray for Revival Among Christians

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 2:14

This perhaps, is the most important thing to ask of the Lord. Christianity spreads when there is persecution and/or revival among believers. Pray for the born again Christians in this Nation, pray for your church, and pray for yourself -that your heart would be revived. The Lord can and will send revival if we humble ourselves, pray and seek his face, and turn from our wicked ways. Pray for revival!
Revival: Revival is the people of God constrained, gripped, overmastered, and overwhelmed by the love of Christ so that they are feverishly restless to win souls to Christ.-And

Let’s Think About It

How else can we pray for our country? What would you add to this list?

How can you spend more time in prayer for our Nation?

  1. Yes to all points!! It’s definitely easy just to passively pray for our country or anything for that matter. If more of us Christians were fervently begging God to work in hearts and bring revival, while letting Him work in our lives, we would definitely see a difference. A lot of luke-warmness and lack of results in the ministry is because we aren’t praying enough!

Thanks for the encouragement to pray for our nation!
