Friday Favorites: What I'm Using + Loving This Week {Week Four} Gift Ideas

Hey Friends,

Happy Friday! I hope you enjoyed our last full week in the lovely month of October. I’m excited for November but sad to see October come to an end. It’s one of my favorite months in the whole year. (Who else agrees with me?) ๐Ÿ™‚

This week was pretty normal – busy, but wonderful. I have some fun favorites to share with all of you so let’s just jump right into it!

Friday Favorites {Week Four}

1. Mercy Came Down by The Voices of Grace

This music CD is special because it was put together by a group of girls from my church! They all sing beautifully together and this is their very first CD which was just released this past Sunday! My husband and I bought their CD and I have been listening to it in the car all week long. I typically listen to podcasts on my way to and from work, but every day this week I’ve been choosing this CD instead – yes, it’s that good. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thankfully, their music is already up on Amazon on MP3, and you can listen to samples of each song! My favorite song is #6 Blessed Be the Name of the Lord – I’ve had it on repeat a LOT this week.

Godly, Christ-like music is so important for us as Christians – it’s uplifting and edifying, and helps us keep our minds focused on things above! (Colossians 3:2)

2. Avon Moisture Therapy Hand Cream

Let me just preface this by saying that I normally prefer all-natural moisturizers. However, every Fall/Winter my hands get incredibly dry and chapped – so dry that they usually crack and bleed. It’s not fun! So far, this is the best hand creamย I’ve used to fix my ridiculously dry hands. Unfortunately, coconut oil just doesn’t cut it. ๐Ÿ™

My hands have been drying out earlier this year due to washing baby bottles and dishes 2-3 times a day. So, this week I pulled out this lotion again and it’s been restoring some much needed moisture to my chapped hands! If you need a good hand lotion for the cold Fall/Winter weather, I would highly recommend trying this one! It works wonders. (My husband even uses this hand lotion too!) That’s saying something. ๐Ÿ˜‰

3. Chocolate Peanut Butter No-Bake Cookies

This week I needed something quick and easy to take to a church get-together and these yummy Chocolate Peanut Butter No-Bakes came to my rescue. Thank you, Pinterest! โ™ฅ

I wanted something that would be quick and these no bake cookies were perfect. All I needed to do was heat up some ingredient over the stove, toss in some oatmeal and ta-da! The cookies were ready to shape and cool. No hand mixer, rolling or baking necessary. Oh, and did I mention they taste really yummy too? Click here for the recipe.

My Not-So Favorite Item…

4. Love Like That: 5 Relationship Secrets from Jesus

Okay, so I really wanted to like this book. The title and motive behind the book sounded amazing. This book is certainly interesting and I wanted to love it… but unfortunately, I am only a few chapters in and finding things that just don’t sit well with me.

First of all… the author is writing from a very psychological and scientific standpoint. I really wish he would stick more to the Scriptures. He also uses so many different Bible versions it’s distracting and sounds like a paraphrase. There are some statements that I really don’t agree with as well. For example, the author states the Jesus made sinners feel comfortable. That’s not true…. Jesus forgave sinners and in turn they loved and adored Him as their Savior. Jesus came to bring sinners to repentance (Luke 5:32) – not to make them feel comfortable in their sin!

I do plan on finishing this book, but I am also feeling very wary of it too.

I’m not saying there is nothing good about this book – there are some really great points and practical ways to love people more. However, there’s something about this book that just doesn’t sit well with me. Maybe because our world has become so focused on love that it’s forgetting about Truth?

I can’t quite share this as a “favorite” so instead, it’s my “not-so favorite” item from the week! (I was given a free copy of this book from Book Look Bloggers in exchange for an honest review.)

  1. Loving…
*Bath and Body Works White Barn Candle in Vanilla Bean (Makes my room smell like a Coffee shop!)
*Reading to my siblings (currently The *Bungalow Mystery by Carolyn Keene)
*Operation Arctic by Patch the Pirate ๐Ÿ˜‰

I love these posts so much!

    1. Ohh a love all those things… Candles, Nancy Drew, Creative Bibles – I’m so glad that you got one!! โค๏ธ

  2. I’m loving:

    1. my morning walks now that the rain has finally disappeared for a few days
    2. Rachel Hollis’ book: Girl, Go Wash Your Face
    3. The song “My God Fights for Me” by Charity Gayle featuring Micah Tyler & Kaden Slay

    Not loving:

Raising a willful, unmotivated, moody 14 year old boy. Jesus help me….my other children did NOT prepare me for this. On the bright side, he’s 14…he’s a freshman…I’m starting to see the light at the end of the parenting tunnel….the finish line is ahead and I know that Jesus is going to use this situation for my good…even though it doesn’t feel very good at all right now. *sigh* This momma is tired!

  3. My hands get so dry like that too! It’s been a little chilly here lately and they’re already getting really dry…let the fun being..haha! And I actually like how you also shared something you weren’t loving. Not that I want you to be complaining about things(haha!) but adding something like that here and there on these posts would be a great idea, I think ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. Thank you so much for the CD recommendation! They sound like a lovely group, may God bless them for their music ministry. Like you said, it is SO difficult to find God-honoring and reverent music these days! Thought I’d share with you a girl’s group from my church as well, since it is similar in style to the group you shared. I would love for you to be blessed by their beautiful music! The group is called Mountain Melodies and here is a link to their CD’s: https://melttheheart.com/brands/Mountain-Melodies.html
Let me know what you think!
Thanks again for your lovely, Christ-centered blog posts. Keep pressing on, Rebekah,
    In Christ,
    Emily
