This week at my church we are having Vacation Bible School. I’m a worker this year but I think I’m going to learn just as much (if not more!) than the kids who are coming. One of the theme verses for the week is Mark 12:30:
“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.”
As I was challenging the kids in my class about this particular verse, the thought came to me… “Wow, do I practice what I’m preaching?” There I was, challenging the kids to love and trust God with all their might, yet I don’t always love God that much myself.
How can we gauge how much we really love God? How do we know if we are loving Him with all we’ve got? The answer? It will show in our priorities. It will show in our thoughts, our words, how we spend our time, and even how we spend our money! Here are some questions we should ask ourselves. They will help us determine whether or not we are loving God with all out heart, soul, mind, and strength!
Honestly answering these questions will show us if we truly love God -or if we have been neglecting Him and putting our love into something (or someone) else.
We should all ask the Lord to give us a greater love for Him so that we can love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength!!
