My Goals for December 2017 + Thoughts on Giving

Hey Everyone, it’s been a couple months since I shared my monthly goals with all of you! I’m pretty well established into a new routine, and so I’m excited to share what is planned for the month of December (even though we are already a week into this new month). Decemeber is always such a fun month – for several reasons…

One. It’s the last month of the year! Which means…

Two. This is the month to get really creative (and excited) about goal planning. It’s so much fun to sit down and create ridiculously looong goal lists! This is the perfect time to think up new goals, plans, and ideas for the new year!

Three. Christmas-time is in full swing! Lights, decorations, Christmas carols, cards, gifts, special programs, fun parties… all of those things taking place this month, and I couldn’t be more excited!

In spite of all the excitement, the hustle, the bustle, and the busyness of December, I have set a few goals for myself. Here’s what is planned for this month!

My Goals for December 2017

  1. Follow a cleaning routine. Ever since we moved into our new home, I haven’t been able to establish the best cleaning routine. Then, just the other day I started reading the book, Simply Clean and…..eureka! – a cleaning routine that totally clicks and makes sense to me. I love the simple approach of doing five daily tasks and one weekly task every day (bathrooms, dusting, sweeping, floor washing, catch up day, and last but not least – washing sheets and towels on Saturday). This approach makes sense and is completely do-able! So, my plan is to give this a go and see how it works for me and our lifestyle.

  2. Take more pictures! Since this is our first year of marriage, I want to be able to look back and remember this sweet time. Not to mention that I am tired of using pictures from stock photo sites, I’m ready to get the hang of photography and start sharing my own photos on this blog!

  3. Complete my Goodreads reading challenge. My goal was 30 books this year. Goodness, I never thought I would have to work so hard to complete this goal! Reading just didn’t happen before the wedding so now I am having a blast reading, reading, reading! (You can see what I’ve been reading in this post here).

  4. Finish Christmas cards and gift-shopping. Adam and I are having fun shopping for Christmas, but boy is it tricky to shop for the other person and keep it a secret at the same time. πŸ™‚ Following after the example of our parents, we are going to turn our general Christmas shopping into a date, complete with going out for dinner. At the moment we are only about half-way done. And…we still need to order Christmas cards and get those sent out as well!

  5. Finalize my goals for 2018. Wow, can you believe it’s almost here? Only the Lord knows what next year holds, but it’s still wise to plan ahead and set our goals. I am still trying to decide what My One Word is going to be for the year 2018, and I think I might make a long list of goals for myself, and then narrow it down to the top 18 (since it’s the year 2018!).

One other thing that has been on my mind a lot recently is the act of giving. Honestly, this thought is on my mind, not just because of Christmas, but because I’m beginning to see how much of a blessing, honor, and privilege it is to be able to give to God and others. Throughout our engagement and this beginning of our marriage, we have seen God bless us in so many ways through so many different people. This experience is creating in me a much bigger desire to be able to give and bless others as well – in any way that I possibly can! So, I guess you could say my β€œun-official, unwritten goal” this month is to give – in any and every way the Lord shows me. Others have been a blessing to me, now I want to be a blessing to others.

In the coming week I will be sharing some Christmas and giving-themed blog posts, hopefully they will encourage you to adopt a giving heart attitude – to truly from the heart this Christmas season (and all year long!).

With that being said… Here is the verse I’m choosing for this month:

β€œGive, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” Luke 6:38

Remember: When we give to others, we are usually the ones who receive the greatest blessing! Because… β€œIt is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35b

Now, How About You?
