My Current Reading List

Hey Friends,

As I mentioned recently, I am finally making more time for reading again. There are a ton of books I would love to read this year – as well asΒ this list of books I want to read again. Many of the books I am reading (or hope to read soon) are related to marriage, but not all of them. I am trying to keep a good balance.

So, for all of you fellow book lovers… here is my current reading list! πŸ™‚

I Recently Finished…

The Right Romance in Marriage by Cathy Rice

Wow, girls. This book is good! It’s definitely an older book, but what Mrs. Rice has to say is right on target. She really understands women and ends up preaching to the husbands in some chapters. There was so much good stuff in this book to glean from, that I want to read it again after I’m married. Mrs. Rice not only has a lot of wisdom, she uses plenty of Scripture, and her own marriage to back up what she has to say. If you are married, or getting married soon, I would highly recommend this book. (You can purchase this book right here.)

The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer

This title was on my list of books to read again. My fiance’ and I decided to go through this book as a weekly study. It has been a really good (and convicting!) book. Reading through this book has shown me just how shallow my walk with God really is. So many of us (myself included) settle for a very complacent and minimal walk with God, but He desires so much more from us! If you want to grow in your walk with the Lord, and your pursuit of Him, I would recommend this book. (You can find this book here.)

I’m Currently Reading…

Discovering the Treasures of a Godly Woman by Elizabeth George

I love the Bible study guides written by Elizabeth George, and I especially love this one. The Proverbs 31 woman has always been one of my role models, and my fiance’ was the one to give me this book. πŸ™‚ I am enjoying working through each day’s reading and study questions.Β (You can purchase this book here.)

Strengthening Your Marriage by Wayne Mack

This is one of our required books for pre-marital counseling. πŸ™‚ I just began reading this book on Sunday, and I am looking forward to what we are going to learn as we go through this book!

On My “To-Read” List…

The Choice Is Yours: Life Happens. Walking with God is a Decision – another one on my list of books to read again. I can’t wait to be refreshed again with this favorite of mine! πŸ™‚

Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World: Finding Intimacy with God in the Busyness of Life – I picked this book up for $1 at a local used bookstore. I’ve heard of this book before, but the title and description really jumped out at me! When life is busy, I need to have that “Mary heart” that just sits at the feet of Jesus to worship. So, I am anxious to find out what this book is all about.

What are You Reading?

I would love to hear what books you are reading right now – OR the books you hope to read soon! Have you read any of the books I mentioned above?

Please share your answers in the comments. Β I love hearing from you! β™₯

  1. Awesome post! ❀
It’s a shame that these books aren’t translated into my language πŸ™ In my country not many people are Christians, in fact at least 80% are atheists or non-believers, so it’s not advantageous financially to translate Christian books… And that’s a pity πŸ™
Although some very good books are translated and I’m definitely going to read them!
But back to the topic. Since I’m studying in a difficult school and my life gets pretty busy sometimes I’m more picky about what I will read πŸ™‚ When I was younger I read everything I explored (it’s necessary to say that those books were often absolutely horrible and trashy :D), but now I carefully choose what to read. I read more classics, novels, autobiographies, history books and so.
Currently I’m reading some books about the World War 2 – it’s really interesting πŸ™‚

    1. I am glad you love to read! And it is good that you are more careful now with the books that you choose πŸ™‚ Hopefully more helpful books will be translated into your language! What language do you speak?

      1. Czech πŸ™‚ It’s true that many books are translated into Czech, but the less famous not. Maybe one day I’ll be able to read them in English πŸ™‚

  2. Lately, I’ve been doing this thing of reading 25 chapters of the Bible daily, so there’s honestly not been time for much other reading! But it’s been nice to take a break from all these other books, and just focus on the Bible πŸ™‚ But I’m almost done with it now, and am looking forward to getting into other books again as well! The Pursuit of God is still on my to-read list. I also want to read more books on theology, since I always skip over what I call the deep stuff like that lol

  3. I haven’t read any of the books on this list, so thanks for the recommendations! I’m about to start a re-read of the Space Trilogy by C.S. Lewis.
