25 Little Ways to Show Gratitude Year-Round
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, the subjects of gratitude and thankfulness have been on my mind. Unfortunately, many of us (myself included!) really only focus on gratitude when the month of November rolls around. However, it’s important that we make gratitude a daily mindset and habit in our lives. God has given us so much! We really ought to express our thankfulness to him and others on a regular basis – not just at Thanksgiving time. With this thought in mind, I created a list of simple ways that you and I can express our gratitude to God and others. Some of the ideas in the following list will just take minutes… others may take a little bit longer, but each one is totally do-able! Why not choose one or two and do them this week?

25 Little Ways to Show Gratitude Year-Round

  • Write a thank you note to an unappreciated and often unnoticed person

  • Send a thank you letter to a faraway friend

  • Create a poem about the things for which you thankful

  • Make a long list of all your blessings

  • Start a daily gratitude journal – list one to three things everyday for which you are thankful

  • Email someone a thank you message

  • Send a simple “I’m thankful for you” text

  • Get a blessings jar and start writing down your blessings each week (like this one)

  • Look up and study Bible verses on being thankful

  • Write a blog or social media post mentioning the people and things for which you are thankful

  • Read a book on gratitude (this one is my favorite – I talk about it a lot!)

  • Meet with some friends for coffee and the chance to share your blessings and what God has been doing in your life

“Count your blessings, name them one by one, count your many blessings, see what God has done.” – Count Your Blessings by Johnson Oatman

  • Verbally tell someone you are thankful for them

  • Treat the people in your life as if they are a gift from God (because they are!)

  • Send a thank you note to your Pastor

  • Write a thank you note to a teacher or mentor who has had an impact on your life

  • Make a list about all the things you like about your home (it’s a gift from God!)

  • Sing songs/hymns of gratitude (such as Thank You, Lord or even Count Your Blessings)

  • Write a thank you note or letter to your parents, siblings, or your spouse/significant other

  • Record your favorite quotes on gratitude (or go find some if you don’t have one!)

  • Make a list of all the things you appreciate or like about your job (another gift from God!)

  • Give a close friend of thank you note and gift to show her how much you appreciate her friendship

  • Send an anonymous thank you note to someone (aka don’t let them know who sent it!)

  • Memorize a Bible verse on thankfulness

  • Write out a letter to Lord thanking Him for all He’s done in your life

Make gratitude a daily habit!

“In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18”

How About You?

  • What do you plan to do this week to show your gratitude?

  • Who do you need to thank this week?

  • What would you like to add to my list?

Share your thoughts and answers in the comments! I love hearing from you! ♥

  1. I just recently wrote a blog post on 8 ways to be thankful. Several of them are already listed here, but I’d add, hide little gifts and notes and things for your family members, set a timer for 1 minute and write down as many blessings as you can that come to mind, and take + share photos of God’s creation. A lot of times when I see beautiful photos of creation, I just gasp and wonder at the majesty and creativity and goodness of our God and that urges me to praise and thank Him.
Thank you for sharing this list! I will definitely be using some of these ideas 🙂

    1. Oh I love those ideas too! Thanks so much for sharing! I like the idea of hiding gifts for family members. My husband does that for me and it’s so much fun! 🙂

    1. Aww haha! Yeah I haven’t been able to send out emails… but I am back to blogging once a week 🙂 Sorry you missed some of the posts, you should be able to catch up pretty quick though 🙂
