The best way to receive a blessing is to bless others. I don’t have a naturally giving heart, but it’s something I would like to work on! Here is a list of 100 ways you and I can bless others!
100 Little Ways to Bless Others
“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye meet withal, it shall be measured to you again.” Luke 6:38
For the Elderly
- Go visit them, talk with them, and just listen
- Bake them a special treat
- Take them grocery shopping
- Read to them from the Bible or a favorite book
- Sing or play music
- Watch their favorite show with them
- Ask them about the things they love to talk about
- Bring them an animal to pet and cuddle
- Help them with household chores
- Bring them flowers
- Help with yard work (mowing, raking leaves, shoveling snow, etc.)
- Take them to a Doctors appointment
For Your Family
- Offer to help a sibling with something today
- Chat with your mom
- Give a hug
- Say “I love you”
- Clean up after a meal (if this isn’t your job already)
- Make a family member’s favorite meal or dessert
- Write a thank you note or appreciation letter to leave on their pillow
- Buy them something they have been wanting
- Deliver breakfast in bed
- Leave a surprise note on the bathroom mirror
At Church
- Smile at everyone
- Say hello to visitors
- Sit with someone who is by them self (or ask them to sit with you)
- Pray with someone who needs it
- Ask for prayer requests
- Offer a listening ear
- Exort and encourage
- Remeber things: names, prayer requests, favorite things
- Chat with the elderly
- Hold a mother’s baby so she can chat with others
- Play with little children to keep them out of mischief
- Give a hug to a struggling girl
- Pick up and throw away any trash
- Notice who is missing and give them a call, send a text, or give a note
- Bring a snack to class (if approved by the teacher)
- Pray for the Pastor before, during, and after the preaching
- Thank your Pastor and his family
- Invite your church family into your home
- Share books and godly music
- Remember birthdays
- Sing or play music
- Help in a class
- Volunteer to work in the nursery
- Get involved with other ministries during the week
- Help clean the church
- Tithe
- Give during a special offering

- Ask your boss what more you can do to help
- Bring a treat for your coworkers

- Be positive and grateful – don’t be the complaining one

With Your Writing
- Write a thank you note
- Write a letter to someone “just because”
- Write out Bible verses and give them away
- Email a friend just to check up on her
- Write an encouragement letter for someone who needs it
- Send a text to a friend and let them know you are praying for them
- Write Scripture on post it notes and place them in public places (use discretion)
- Write Bible verses on cards to place in library books

I love all these ideas so much!! I love doing these kinds of things, my difficulty is trying to find people to do them for. Sometimes last minute I get a bit shy too, depending on my mood. When I was younger I started giving people smiley-face notes all the time. I would write “hello”, “how are you” or a verse on it. I gave them out everywhere–visitors at church, the cashier at the grocery store, people at the hospital… because I wasn’t very good at writing Japanese at the time it was just one way I could communicate kindness without having to use many words. I was alway filled with so much joy when their faces would light up! Some of those smiley face notes resulted in friendships over time, the opportunity to give a Bible to someone, lots of tracts passed out etc. Smiley face notes have become a habit with me now. I really want to make a stack of them up, maybe business card size, to have on hand so I don’t have to always write them on scrap paper and receipts when out and about lol. Thanks for your list! I will probably write all these down somewhere. 🙂

I like the idea of putting verses in library books.
I had never thought to do that. I mean I paid 75 cents for 100 4×6 index cards and have never thought to write scriptures or encouraging words and slip them into library books. I do sometimes give magazines from my subscriptions to neighbors. And I’d like to send postcards to seniors and the sick. I’d love to help watch, hold, and play with babies and youth, and mentor younger people. At 62 with disabilities I have nothing but time and no one to be a blessing to.

This is a wonderful way to bless and encourage others! I make/send greeting cards and enclose scriptures and bookmarks. Today I start cancer treatment. I prayed-wanted to bring a card for someone. Not up to it so will bring some pretty scripture bookmarks. You encouraged me-Thank you!

Saw your comment and thought I would share with you that I printed on card stock one of those dandelion wishes on the left side of a bookmark and on the right side: Jesus prayed for me, now I have prayed for you. Pass it on. These were met with genuine smiles and I got such at blessing from given them to our Sunday school ladies.

I say: Give away 1 thing , ( One of your favorite things, something that you really love) not something you don’t want anyway.
It’s a two-fold blessing. The person who receives the gift is blessed. And YOU receive the blessing of detachment and selflessness.
So much blessed, I am going to share this Tommorow in my church , I am pretty sure this will inspire many.

How do I bless someone who I feel is persecuting me?
I have felt this way about someone before and I prayed for their understanding and mine. It came to me it was my imagination and over time I did learn that it was unintentional. Sometimes people have ideas that they don’t always express well or not thought out that hurt us. Don’t take it personal. There are too many others that need your kindness.

I saw my neighbors had a raised bed garden, I ask them if I could put a garden in for them. It is growing fantastically and so is our friendship.
I love to grow a garden. I always put a row of flowers on the first row because it really helps my motivation to come to the garden to work & it makes it so lovely to be in. I would sell my flower arrangements at the farmer’s market, give them away at a mental health hospital, or the nursing homes. I would also give away fresh produce.
I really enjoyed these ideals and I do a lot of them.Thank you.

Now that we are almost into winter, gloves, toasty socks, flavored teas and ciders, ice scrapers and window defrosters are great to bless others with. I love making chocolate spoons and filling a repurposed jar with dry ingredients to microwave a mug of cake or s’mores. Wrapped in a hand towel they can use makes for smiles.
I would have to say #5.

As a pastor, I read this list and although it had some good ideas, I had to cringe at the language. Pray for your pastor and his family should read pray for your pastor and his or her family or even gender neutral their. How much more welcoming this list could be if it were gender inclusive.
